A one-time Meta setup, then your own number answers automatically. The most powerful channel and the most involved.
45–90 minutes, one time
You do this once. Keep the tab open — you'll copy a few values into ReplyX.
If you don't already have one, create it at business.facebook.com. Your WhatsApp Business account will live inside it.
At developers.facebook.com create an app and add the WhatsApp product. Meta gives you a test number immediately — useful for trying things, but customers can't reach it.
From WhatsApp → API Setup, note the Phone number ID. From the app dashboard, note the App ID and WABA ID (WhatsApp Business Account ID) — templates need the WABA ID, media needs the App ID. The App Secret (App settings → Basic) lets ReplyX verify that webhooks really come from Meta.
Add and verify the phone number customers will message. It must not be actively registered on the WhatsApp mobile app at the same time — Meta will walk you through migrating it.
Create a system user in Business Settings, grant it the app and WhatsApp permissions, and generate a token that never expires. Temporary tokens die in 24 hours and take your inbox with them.
In the app's WhatsApp → Configuration, set the Callback URL below with the verify token ReplyX shows you, and subscribe to the messages field.
Callback URL
https://api.replyx.io/webhooks/metaDevelopment mode only talks to app admins. Flip to Live so customers can reach you.
Bring the values from Part 1 across. Takes about a minute.
Add Channel → WhatsApp Business → paste the Phone number ID and permanent token → pick an AI agent → Connect. You can add the WABA ID, App ID and App Secret now or later from the channel's page — templates and broadcasts need them.
On the channel page, use Check now under Connection health. Then message your number from another phone — it lands in the inbox and the AI answers.
