Answer DMs from the professional account linked to your Facebook Page — same app, same webhook as Messenger.
15 minutes on top of the Messenger setup
Three things must be true of the Instagram account itself, and no login button can do them for you: it must be a Professional account (Settings → Account type), it must be linked to a Facebook Page (Settings → Business tools → Connect a page), and message access must be on (Settings → Messages and story replies → Message controls → allow Connected tools).
If Add Channel → Instagram DM offers “Continue with Facebook”, log in and pick the account — the ID, token and webhook are handled for you. Otherwise:
Instagram and Messenger share the same Meta app. Add instagram_basic and instagram_manage_messages to the app's permissions alongside the Page ones.
You need the access token of the linked Facebook Page (same as Messenger) and the Instagram account ID — a long number starting 1784…. Find it in Graph API Explorer by querying me/accounts?fields=instagram_business_account with your page token.
Add Channel → Instagram DM → paste the account ID and page token → pick an AI agent → Connect. Instagram uses the same Meta webhook as Messenger — make sure the messages field is subscribed.
